Idaho income tax in 2026
Idaho taxes income above a small zero bracket at a flat 5.3% after the federal standard deduction.
House Bill 40 (2025) set the rate at 5.3%. The first $4,811 of Idaho taxable income ($9,622 joint or head of household) is not taxed. Idaho starts from federal taxable income, and House Bill 559 (2026) adopted the federal deductions for tips and overtime premium pay, so the amounts deducted on the federal return also come off Idaho taxable income.
- Standard deduction: the same as the federal one: $16,100 single, $32,200 married filing jointly, $24,150 head of household.
- 401(k): traditional contributions come out before Idaho income tax, as they do for federal tax.
